Parent Education

Parents are the school’s key stakeholders. The school is committed to providing more opportunities for parents to share with the school vision and mission. Clear messages are delivered so as to enhance parents’ confidence to the school and get their support. The school should take a more active role in communicating with parents. Manpower resources and religious education support from the Church are available so that parents have the opportunity to understand the belief of Christianity. Over the years, an increasing number of parents have been converted to Christianity.

Parents are given chance to support school development through attending various forums, workshops, seminars and conferences on curriculum organised by the school, home-school communication regarding the learning of their children, observing lessons in person and serving as helpers in lessons, extended learning activities and performances.

Home-School-Church Collaboration

The pastoral staff, deacons and members of the Kau Yan Church deliver talks in the parent education class on Sundays and give support to parent participants where needed.

Parenting is a subject, which has turned out not as simple as it seemed to be. As every family has its own culture, pattern and lifestyle, each family could have its own problems to be faced. Besides, there are many other significant factors contributing to a child’s development, such as their unique personalities, parental marital status, even peers & mass media. So, how could parents today deal with all of these? We believe there is much room for every parent to learn about, need to be encouraged and the courage to grow. While there are no perfect parents in this world, the quality of a family could surely improve with parental efforts in learning, attempting and persevering to play their roles better. “Parents’ Class” serves as a platform where parents can learn and practice together with the aim of building up a happier and stronger family. In the loving & practical ways, we would like to share our joys and experiences with the participants who are also along the same parenting path at whatever stage they are.

Purposes:

  1. With all available resources, help parents grow together with children in more effective and cheerful ways; Establish channels for parents to support, encourage, and share their experiences in raising children;
  2. Establish channels for parents to support, encourage, and share their experiences in raising children;
  3. Let the school & the church have deeper understanding of the dynamics among various families;
  4. Provide opportunities for the parents to be a role model of lifelong learning, so as to stimulate their children’s interest in learning.
